On October 30, 2023, UPE met again with representatives from Sacramento Superior Court regarding vacation. UPE previously proposed increasing the number of Investigators off at one time, and the Court flatly rejected this proposal. At the meeting, UPE expressed the members’ frustration and burnout with the ongoing situation. At this meeting, the Court proposed a significant change to the vacation process through the incorporation of two seniority rounds of vacation bidding. These rounds would allow Investigators to request off time before the 180 limit currently imposed, but selections would be made in order of seniority. After completion of the two rounds, the remaining dates would be available on a first-come, first-serve as vacation is handled currently. More details are provided in the draft policy attached. UPE did not take a position on the proposal with management. UPE Business Agent Seth Alexander will be available to answer questions and hear members’ opinions on the proposed policy on the following dates and times:
Thursday, November 9, 2023 - 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm - Room 317 C
Wednesday, November 15, 2023 - 9:30 am to 10:30 am - Room 317 C
