UPE

Protective Emergency Placement and Voluntary Placement

Updated: Jul 7, 2023

On February 9, 2023, UPE continued to meet with the County regarding the above policy and procedure.

There were three (3) pending items that the County needed to respond to from the previous meeting. The first was to clarify the meaning of visitation; the second was asking if there would be any relief for Social Workers that have to attend a hearing when dealing with an ICWA child; the third was to clarify if the program for benefits is in-fact AFDC and not TANF or CalWORKs. There was clarification provided that the “definition” of visitation will refer to court-ordered visitation. Relief for Social Workers who must attend the ICWA child hearings will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Lastly the clarification was provided that the benefits are still AFDC, not TANF or CalWORKs. There were some other concerns the team decided would be best to take back to PSW. There were no other objections to the updates of these policies and procedures.

Thank you to the participants,

Eric Booker, Beverly Kearney and Sarah Singleton
