DHA - Increase in intakes

Your negotiation team met with the department to address the department-wide increase in intake appointments. The department denies that this is a change, claiming that seven to eight appointments per day is normal and not new. UPE strongly disagrees. We explained the challenges of meeting this schedule while also completing additional required duties. We continue to stress the need for more time for each intake, citing the length of the Rights and Responsibilities recording as just one example.

The department has refused to reduce the number of appointments or extend appointments. To provide the most immediate relief to our members, we again proposed a streamlined process that would allow workers to request rescheduling when an appointment runs into the next time slot. They agreed to provide a new process to address this to UPE by the end of the day. We are scheduling a meet & confer with management about this proposed process in the next week or so.  Once it is finalized and agreed to, we will update you with those details.

STAY TUNED.

Special thanks to our negotiation team, Keisha Raven, Stephanie McCall, Olivia Brown, Tony DeRego, Nichole Gorman, and Michelle Moyer.
