On July 18, 2023, UPE met with APS management concerning the above. This new policy codifies the existing practices.

After careful assessment, UPE found that there was little impact on how the FSWs perform their duties. One of the department's procedures required the FSW to check their cell phone, at minimum, every thirty (30) minutes, for texts, emails, and voicemails. We informed the department that this was unsafe, especially if the FSW was on the road. We asked instead that they be required to turn on their alerts for texts, emails and have their ringer on for phone calls. The department was agreeable to that. Other asks from UPE had to do with grammatical errors. The County will revise the policy and provide a copy to UPE.

Thank you to the participants for your advocacy.
