Greetings, Union Sisters and Brothers. On April 3, 2025, your UPE Bargaining Team met with the County for our 11th Contract Negotiations Session. In the interest of expediting negotiations, your Team made major movement and offered to modify its salary proposal down to 6% in the first year and 3% to 6% in the second year. Our modified proposal was rejected by the County, and our proposal for increased sick leave was also rejected.
The County made a very small amount of potential economic movement at the table this session: they expressed ‘interest’ in our proposal for a 5% pay raise for those who work at the Welcome Homes, a dangerous assignment. They also proposed to slightly expand eligibility for social worker training pay AND THAT WAS IT.
Your Team and the County are still far apart. Your Team will not accept the lack of progress and the insulting offers, and we know you will not accept it. Your Team is already fighting, and the fight needs to spread to the worksites.
