UPE recently met and conferred with the Courts on June 23, 2025, regarding updates to the Court Attendant Uniform Policy, effective July 1, 2025. The policy requires all Court Attendants to wear a standard uniform that includes a black blazer with logo patch, black slacks, a solid white button-up dress shirt, black socks and shoes, and a tie. Specific guidelines also apply to accessories, grooming, and the maintenance and presentation of uniforms. Uniforms are expected to be neat, clean, pressed, and worn in a professional manner. Notably, A grace period through August 1 was approved for uniform adjustment.
New Court Attendants in their first year will qualify up to $450 for initial uniform purchases, plus a prorated monthly maintenance allowance of $58.33 for the remainder of the fiscal year. In each subsequent fiscal year, employees will be eligible for up to $700 annually to cover ongoing uniform costs. Reimbursement requires the submission of original receipts within 30 calendar days of purchase.
Notably, UPE proposed removing the requirement that Court Attendants complete a training program before qualifying for uniform reimbursement. The Court agreed, reducing unnecessary barriers and making the reimbursement process more accessible for employees. In addition, the Court clarified that various types of ties—not just traditional neckties—are acceptable, provided they maintain a professional appearance. Additionally, the Court removed blouses and skirts from the approved uniform options, despite UPE’s proposal to retain them as acceptable attire.
