UPE wishes to extend a huge thank you to all the members who stood up for their rights and their dignity during the strike yesterday! Together, you pulled off the largest job action the County has seen in nearly 19 years! UPE members started their day at their own worksites and left the County scrambling to cover the work you do every single day. Then everyone converged downtown to make our collective voices heard before the Board of Supervisors. UPE filled the Board Chamber, the overflow rooms, the lobby, and the plaza outside. It was a sea of red on the streets downtown as UPE members continued to protest and make their voices heard, demanding a fair and livable contract. Finally, UPE members returned to the Board Chamber, where they spent the late afternoon once again telling the Board of Supervisors to step up and value their employees.
The fight is not over! Please stand by for further updates regarding contract negotiations.
