On September 24, 2024, your Placer Court Bargaining Team met with Court Administration for our ninth session of contract negotiations.
The Court made NO movement with their economic proposals to meet the financial needs of our members to receive a livable wage increase. Knowing the Court will not declare an impasse to avoid a job action (STRIKE), your negotiations team agrees that we, the Union, will declare an impasse to get a state mediator sooner rather than later to assist in getting an agreement.
UPE held a Bargaining Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting on the 24th to update the membership on bargaining that day, explain the impasse procedure, and take a strike authorization vote. A vote was taken, and the membership decided unanimously to authorize a strike.
As a reminder, only the Court can avoid a strike by providing our members with a livable wage increase.
UPE will continue communicating the bargaining status to the membership as we progress.
