On July 14, 2025, UPE held its final meeting with the Court regarding the Court Office Technical Classification Study. The Classification Study began in 2023 and covered the classifications of: Account Clerk, Court Service Coordinator, Court Attendant, Lead Deputy Clerk, Courtroom Clerk, Lead Courtroom Clerk, and Paralegal.
The meeting concerned the outcome of a compensation study that Bryce Consulting conducted for the Court regarding these classifications. It is standard practice in labor relations to offer salary increases to classifications more than 5% below the median for comparable classifications at comparable employers.
The compensation study revealed that the Paralegal classification was more than 5% below the median for comparable classifications. UPE is pleased to report that the parties have agreed to a 4% equity increase for this classification, bringing it more closely in line with comparable classifications.
Unfortunately, the salary of the other classifications did not fall in the range justifying an equity increase. The compensation study revealed that the Lead Deputy Clerk classification was almost 5% below the median. Consequently, UPE proposed to provide them with an equity increase. However, the Court would not budge.
The Court directed UPE to the upcoming contract negotiations in 2026 for future raises. UPE and its members will be sure to remind the Court at that time that our members deserve fair compensation for the work they perform for the Court day in and day out.
