IHSS Meet and Confer: Telehealth Reassessment Option Mandate

On May 16, 2025, 008 board members and advocates met with DCFAS In-Home Support Services (IHSS) to discuss the new state mandate that would provide recipients with the opportunity to do their annual reassessment over the phone. The County came to this meeting unprepared and did not provide us with pertinent information in advance. We received the All-County Letter (ACL) at the meeting, which detailed specific criteria for recipients to be eligible for the telehealth option. We read through it and still have many unanswered questions. While this appears to be a time-saving solution, some aspects may increase the workload rather than alleviate it.

The County anticipates an information update and additional ACL to be released in July. At that time, we will be meeting again to get our questions answered and ensure this is implemented effectively.

UPE thanks Rachael Kelly and Sarah Singleton for their advocacy.

More to come. Stay tuned.
