EMD: Subpoena Policy

On March 12, 2024, UPE met and conferred with Sacramento County over the creation of a policy to handle subpoenas submitted in person to the Environmental Management Department (EMD).

The new policy codifies an existing EMD procedure.  UPE staff are not required to handle subpoenas; instead, the policy outlines who they should contact if someone brings in a subpoena.  It will be the responsibility of non-UPE staff to receive the subpoena and take appropriate action.  If members have questions or concerns, they can reach out to UPE.

UPE thanks Governing Board Members Jennifer Avalo and Sylvia Garcia for their participation and representation during this meet-and-confer.
