DHA – Temporary Moves(Research, Fulton, & SGM)

Greetings, Union Brothers and Sisters,

Your negotiations team met with the department because the Research, Fulton & Susie Gaines bureaus have run out of space for employees. The department’s proposed solution was to uproot seasoned workers at Research & Fulton from their permanent private workspaces and force them to occupy interview booths. Susie Gaines will be forcing outstation workers to give up their bureau workspace and permanently remain at their outstation locations. The department claims this is necessary due to new staff being hired and needing additional space to accommodate their arrival. UPE adamantly opposes forcing any member to not only give up workspaces they bid on by seniority when forced out of 28th Street & allowing management to bypass the past practice of getting workspace based on seniority.

UPE successfully forced management to consider additional telework options in order to open up space. Management agreed to try to find specific solutions for the affected bureaus and to discuss broader department telework expansion as well.
