Your 008-bargaining team met with the department regarding their proposal to have OA’s site verify the identification of clients when they are unknown to Cal Saws or MEDS. The department stated that they wanted to avoid handoffs when ID needs to be submitted. UPE believes this is an out-of-class job duty meant for eligibility staff only.

We were unable to come to any kind of agreement for a change in the duties of our Office Assistants. We demanded that the department retract any instructions previously given to our members by altering the process. The department stated they would be consulting with the policy team and getting back to us if they want to proceed. In the meantime, office assistant duties remain unchanged. They will continue to receive documents for a case, provide a receipt & scan accordingly.
