Greetings, Union brothers and sisters,

Your 008 negotiations team met with the Department again on November 13, 2024, over their proposal to implement CalFresh Expedited Services and CalWORKs Immediate Need screeners in all open lobbies. The Department had to postpone the implementation date as they are not yet prepared to move forward. They stated they tentatively will start this process at the beginning of December. We had many questions and concerns about these units being asked to do other lobby work as needed instead of the designated job they are assigned to do. This often happens when the Department can latch on to anyone they deem “available”. We made several proposals along with information requests. We will meet again with management this week to get answers to our questions and proposals and review the information requested—more updates to come.

A special thank you to SMEs Michelle Moyer and LaTroya Flournoy for their assistance, along with board members Nichole Gorman, Stephanie McCall and Chris Jenkins.

TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG!
