On July 18, 2023, UPE met with APS management concerning the above. This new policy codifies the existing practices.

After reviewing the policy, we had several items requiring language clean-up. For example, the department used the term assessment in the Policy section, and we requested that it be changed to observation. We again asked for the term business days to be changed to working days. We also requested that the department remove the FSW "record any medical conditions that affect client safety." FSWs are not medical professionals. The word "determine" was replaced with "ask/observe," and the word "comment" was replaced with "record." We asked to clarify the task, "changes in client's social functioning." The department will update that to state "social interactions." The policy and procedure's impact on the FSWs will remain the same. Once the revisions are made, the department will provide a final copy of the P&P to UPE.

Thank you to the participants for your advocacy.
