On June 23rd, UPE met with representatives from the Department of Health Services to discuss the impact and implementation of changing the position title of the Claims Assistance Specialist to Health Service Coordinator (H.S.C.) and adding the position of Sr. Health Service Coordinator (Sr H.S.C).
The County stated the reason for the position title change was to update the minimum qualifications and class specifications to reflect the current duties and responsibilities of the position. The class of Sr. Health Service Coordinator was created in order to provide a career pathway for the Health Service Coordinator into a lead position.
As a result, UPE and the County both agreed there would be no negative impact. This would provide more applicants an opportunity for employment with the County, as well as give the current members in the H.S.C. class advancement opportunities.
The next steps are to gain approval for the change from the Civil Service Commission, followed by the Board of Supervisors.
UPE thanks the 005 members- Diva Rodriguez, Tracy Lor, and Diana Trevizo for attending as subject matter experts and for your assistance in asking and getting answers to the tough questions."
