On June 16, 2025, United Public Employees (UPE) met with representatives from the Sacramento Superior Court to discuss the Voluntary Time Off (VTO) Program for 2025. This program would allow eligible employees to take unpaid time off during specific times of the year, with prior approval from management. The designated dates include the week of Thanksgiving (November 24–28), the week of Christmas (December 22–26), and the week of New Year’s (December 29–January 2). Court holidays would not be included in the available time off for VTO.
Participation in the program would be voluntary and initiated by the employee, but all requests would require approval based on the operational needs of the Court. Employees approved for VTO would not be required to use vacation or other paid leave balances and would not be expected to perform any work during their time off.
UPE is currently reviewing this proposal and is still in the process of meeting and conferring with the Court on the VTO Program. We will be meeting again on this matter and will continue to keep members posted as to any updates. Please stay tuned.
UPE WOULD LIKE TO THANK UPE COURT OFFICE TECHNICAL GOVERNING BOARD MEMBERS LIZ TEKLINSKY, SUZETTE CADE, ALISON SALTONSTALL, CHRISTINE ARCURI, SHAWN BOXER, TAMMI BOXER, NANCY WALLACE, ANDREA HOWARD FOR THEIR ADVOCACY AND PARTICIPATION.
