On August 7, 2025, your bargaining team met with Court Administration to continue negotiations for a new agreement. While we reached tentative agreements (TAs) on a few non-controversial items, the Court presented a package proposal that rejected four of our previously submitted proposals. This package included revised language concerning personnel files and performance evaluations, as well as the grounds for disciplinary action.

We did, however, achieve stronger language, ensuring that employees who have passed probation and accept promotions will retain the right to return to their previous positions. The Court countered our proposal for an increase in the Tahoe subsistence pay by agreeing to raise it to $1,000, but this is contingent on living within 60 miles of the court location, and this differential will no longer be included in retirement calculations.

Additionally, the Court responded to our counter regarding salary increases by proposing another 3-year term with the following terms:
  • Year 1: 3% increase
  • Year 2: 3% increase, which will be reduced to 2% if the Court’s total ongoing allocation to the TCTF base falls below $25,500,000.
  • Year 3: 3% increase, which will be reduced to 1% if the Court’s total ongoing allocation to the TCTF base falls below $25,944,000.
And rejected the following Union Proposals:
  • Union Proposal 4- Courtroom differential
  • Union Proposal 5 - Overtime
  • Union Proposal 6- Increase to vacation
  • Union Proposal 7- Increase to sick leave

As we mentioned during the negotiations, we believe this package does not meet our expectations for an appropriate increase for our members. We will continue to advocate for what we feel our valued members deserve.

We are scheduled to meet again on August 15
