On 9/30/25, your 008-bargaining team met with the department regarding their proposal for a new fraudulent document referral process for Cal Works and limited use for Cal Fresh. The department will be working with the Program Integrity Division (PID) to monitor an email box where suspected fraudulent documents can be submitted for Cal Works and for identification related documents for Cal Fresh.
The process will resemble the EBT 2259 mailbox but will be used when workers suspect a document they receive is not legitimate. UPE expressed concerns about turn-round times for workers to receive responses from PID as they also expect administration of IN/ES to remain within program required timelines.
Since this is a new and untested process UPE will be monitoring the potential workload impact and plans to meet with the department again in 30 days to evaluate its effects on our members if any.
Please reach out to your business agent, board member or steward if you are experiencing any negative impacts on this new process so that we can assist as needed.
Special thanks to Stephanie McCall for her assistance with this Meet & Confer
