On July 10, 2026, UPE spoke before the Sacramento County Civil Service Commission in opposition to the Collection Service Agent Series Class Study. In particular, UPE objected to the creation of a lower-paid classification that will duplicate the collection duties of current Collection Service Agents and potentially undermine the ability of Collection Service Agents to meet minimum requirements and/or qualify for the 9.2% differential.
The Civil Service Commission was receptive to UPE’s arguments and did not vote to approve the class study. Instead, the body took it off the agenda until a later date in order to allow time for the County and UPE to resolve their issues.
UPE will continue this fight to protect the work of our Collection Service Agents!
