Greetings, union brothers and sisters,

Your 008 and 005 negotiation team met with the department regarding CORE. A pattern is emerging: the department continues to arrive at these meetings with unrealistic timelines and expectations for implementing this major overhaul of our operations. The most offensive and insensitive proposal the department made is that all MACF workers will be cross-trained in CW for a mere 2 weeks. Of the proposed 2 weeks being offered, 1 week is virtual. This training normally takes 8 weeks in a traditional SDO environment. UPE will be making several proposals directly related to the inadequate training for both 008 & 005 members.

Additionally, we will be proposing protections for all of our members who are being forced to participate in this poorly planned and doomed operational failure.  As always, additional discussions are welcomed by reaching out to UPE directly or a member of the negotiation team listed. Additional meetings have been scheduled with the department, so stay tuned for more information.

Special thanks to attending members, Stephanie McCall, Nichole Gorman, Debbie Tellez, Tony DeRego, Michelle Moyer, Deborah Ruiz, and Willa Reed.
