Late on the evening of June 17, 2025, Sacramento County sent UPE a notice of its intent to seek injunctive relief regarding our planned strike. The County seeks to enjoin (prevent) a large number of social workers in DCFAS from participating in the strike. To prevent unilateral County action, your UPE 008 Bargaining Team agreed to participate in mediation regarding this matter with the County, using a neutral mediator from the Public Employment Relations Board. Your UPE 008 Bargaining Team recognizes the essential role our members play in child and public safety, which is part of the reason UPE members deserve a fair and livable wage.
As a result of the mediation, no strike action will occur until this process concludes and no sooner than June 26, 2025. UPE will provide its members with further updates at the conclusion of the mediation process.
