008 Negotiation Update: New Strike Date

On August 1, 2025, your UPE 008 Negotiations Team met with Sacramento County to continue contract negotiations. While progress was made on Friday, an agreement was not reached on some of the central issues. However, your UPE 008 Negotiations Team believes enough progress was made to justify meeting on Tuesday August 5, 2025, rather than carrying out the planned strike for August 5th and August 6th. UPE has now sent notice of an 008 Unfair Labor Practice strike on August 11, 2025, based upon the County denial of vacation and sick time during negotiations. Because 005 Bargaining Unit reached a tentative agreement on August 4, 2025, only 008 is calling for the strike on August 11th.

UPE will update membership as soon as possible with further information.
