Greetings, Union Sisters and Brothers, on 5/15/25, your UPE 008 bargaining team met with the County for our 14th contract negotiation session since we began this process in December 2024. The County came in with only one new change from their prior inadequate offer. The change was to further reduce the number of covered relatives for family death leave…A heartless and insulting take-away.

They came with no increase in their general salary proposal, which still calls for a three-year contract with 2.8% in the first year, 2% to 4% in the second year, and another 2% to 4% in the third year. In addition, the County rejected the union’s salary proposal. In short, there was no meaningful movement.

Our members have waited long enough for a fair offer from Sacramento County. Your team has declared an impasse and will ask for a state mediator to help us try for a negotiated agreement, unlikely as that may seem after 6 months of good faith effort on our part.

Mediation may take weeks; in the meantime, work site meetings are being scheduled by our business agents at 008 worksites to discuss bargaining and what should be done to prepare for a strike.  Here is what’s next: STRIKE VOTE MEETING on Thursday, 5/29/25 at 6:00 pm at UPE 9333 Tech Center Drive, Ste 300.   BE THERE!
