Greetings, union Sisters and Brothers. On February 13, 2025, your UPE 008 bargaining team met with the County for our seventh contract negotiation session.
At this meeting the County rejected every single union salary proposal and economic proposal on the grounds that the County is “not interested in bargaining based on interests” (meaning the interests of UPE members) but only based on what “the market decrees”. They claimed that our economic proposals are so unreasonable that they won’t even bother to make a counter proposal. Your team felt this was completely insulting to UPE members, who are the real power in the workplace and who keep the County’s operations running in spite of notorious ineptitude and malpractice by County management. The County has made it clear that it is now a fight.
