Greetings, Union Brothers and Sisters. On January 9, 2025, your UPE 008 Bargaining Team met with the County to continue bargaining.  Your team presented five additional Union proposals and responded to the County’s proposals.

Our new proposals included:
  • Protections against unreasonable denial of overtime.
  • A second hazard pay proposal for members working in dangerous facilities.
  • An increase in special skills pay.
  • A training differential for Social Workers training an intern.
  • A proposal to close loopholes in caseload averaging.

Your team rejected County proposals that would:
  • Eliminate special skills classifications and reduce special skills pay.
  • Remove protections against our members’ work being contracted out to the private sector.
  • Limit the Union’s ability to negotiate on County classifications studies, and
  • A proposal which would gut the program specific workgroups.

The County’s inadequate COLA offer of 1% to 4% remains unchanged.

It is becoming more apparent with each meeting that the Union and the County are still far apart.  The next bargaining session is scheduled for January 23, 2025.  The contract expires on March 31, 2025.  Stay tuned for further updates.
