On June 17th, your 005 bargaining team met with the county for yet another negotiation session. The county initially came in with nothing. After several discussions and caucus, we were able to get slight movement from them. They proposed 2.8% in year 1, 3% in year 2, and 3% in year 3 for salary increases. We still believe this is far from a livable wage and countered with 4% in year 1, 4% in year 2, and 4% in year 3. We also fought to maintain the status quo regarding Family Death Leave, specifically to keep the 40 hours and the same relatives as listed in the contract. We added more positions to the equity adjustments and made some movement on a couple of other proposals. Our final scheduled session is set for June 24th, when the county is expected to provide responses to all outstanding items.
We have been going at this for almost 6 months, and we will not stop until they meet us at a fair point. Please wear Red to continue supporting your team while they are in session. We are stronger when we’re together.
