2023 STEWARD NOMINATIONS OPEN
UPE will be conducting steward elections for all of the UPE bargaining units. UPE Stewards work collectively with the UPE Business Agents to maintain and protect our members’ rights by enforcing our negotiated contracts. UPE Stewards assist members by informing them of the actions taken by the union, and communicate workplace concerns to union staff for resolution. UPE Stewards participate in the meet and confer process with the union and management, as subject matter experts in relation to their job and duties. To ensure management does not infringe upon your rights, it is imperative that your area is represented by a steward. Nominate yourself or a co-worker today!
REQUIREMENTS: Stewards are expected to meet the third Thursday of each month 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. for Stewards’ Council where additional training is provided and information affecting members is exchanged. Steward candidates must have or plan on attending Stewards’ Training Level I and II as well as meet the other requirements. A Steward’s term of office will be for three (3) years.
NOMINATION GUIDELINES: You must be a member in good standing to make a nomination or be nominated. Members may nominate themselves. All existing Stewards are automatically nominated.
(005) Office-Technical: members may nominate co-workers in their bargaining unit who are also in their department.
