UPE News Item

008 Meet and Confer Update

SSI/SSP Expansion

Problems already exist with Cal-Win unable to properly process the new clients.  The Department apologized for these issues and encouraged workers to send help-desk tickets for all problems.  They were unable to give a timeline for when Cal-Win would be updated.  UPE’s main concern is the increased workload caused by the addition of these new clients.  The Department noted that the State did not offer additional funds to hire staff, implying that workers once again will be asked to do more work with fewer staff.  UPE proposed and the County agreed to a 3 month hold-harmless for errors and omissions stemming from the new processes and additional workload.  This means workers cannot be disciplined or ‘written up’ for mistakes related to these new clients.  The two sides agreed to meet again in 3 months to assess the progress of the expansion.
