UPE membership comes with an extensive benefits program.

UPE negotiates for a comprehensive package of benefits with each employer. In this packages you have coverage for yourself and your eligible family members in Medical, Dental, Life, Deferred Compensation, Employee Assistance and Flex plans. See Negotiated Benefits for more details

UPE also negotiates for many types of paid and unpaid leaves and integration between types of leaves. Vacation, Sick Leave, Family Death Leave, Paid Holidays, Paid Parental Leave, Maternity Leave, Medical Leaves, Education Leaves, SDI and FTDI integration are all negotiated in your contract. UPE also works to arrange for discounts for you for entertainment venues as well as the dental plan. If you know of additional dentist, vendors, store or service provider who would be interested in giving discounts to UPE members, please contact our Office Manager, Carol at cabana@upe1.org.


WORKERS COMPENSATION ATTORNEY

When a worker is injured or becomes ill at work, he or she needs to file a claim for Workers Compensation. UPE works with an outstanding Workers Compensation Attorney, Nicholas Sheedy. Mr. Sheedy works closely with UPE and its members to protect injured workers and help them receive the benefits they are entitled to receive.

If you are injured or become ill on the job, report the injury right away. You should also contact your union representative or our Workers Comp attorney for further advice and assistance. Mr. Sheedy can be reached at (916) 646 4600. Let him know you are a UPE member.


ADDITIONAL INSURANCE

In addition to these benefits, Local 1 also makes a wide variety of insurance plans available for members to purchase from Parker Group using payroll deduction.
